The paper focuses on an aspect of the history collection Ivan Skušek Jr., early 20th century Slovenian collector that has not yet been looked at thoroughly, namely, its “apartment” period, time when was display in three consecutive apartments Jr. and his Japanese wife lived in. Due to failed plans establish a museum, ended up being spaces for entire period between their arrival Ljubljana Marija Skušek’s passing, all together 43 years—much longer than it ever displayed museum settings. way space functioned as setting how this combination created place communication, appropriation knowledge acquisition—how in, with through. analysis thus reflects implications lived-in museum: impacted parts, conditioned lives owners mode presentation influenced reception visitors. In second part paper, is based specific material—Skušek’s archive recently analysed Ethnographic collections, including number photographs interiors apartments.
